Soap with a Difference

When I was in York last week I picked up a few things from the lovely people at The Yorkshire Soap Company that opened up earlier this year on Blake Street. This little shop is so beautiful and unique, and anyone that loves to indulge in beautiful scents with a difference I would recommend stopping by next time you are in York. But beware you will not be able to leave empty handed.

I smelt pretty much every soap, bath salt and lotion they had in there, and while there was plenty of favourites I chose the bath salts and body lotion with the Cherry Bake well fragrance. The bath salts are very strong in smell but once you put them in the tub, they are a lot lighter and less overwhelming, making a relaxing soak. The tin packaging is so cute and I admit packaging is a huge selling point with me. I often think how I can reuse once the product is finished with. The pink labels are so cute and appeals to a feminine nature. These products now take pride in there place in the bathroom for all visitors to see.

With the winter weather starting to dry out my skin, I was looking for a good body lotion to invest in that smelt good and felt silky smooth on the skin. I was not disappointed with this product. The lotion comes in a tall bottle with a pump that allows you to control how much product you use at a time. A little of this product goes a long way and leaves your skin feeling hydrated as well as smelling delicious! I have been using this product everyday since I bought it and it has barely left a dent in the bottle. If you are like me and like to keep your skin nourished in the colder months I would recommend this lotion. There is a wide selection of body lotions on sale in the store, so if cherry bake well seems a little to sickly sweet for your tastes there are plenty  more on offer.

I am not one for taking regular baths, but the cute packaging on these bath salts had me sold. I purchased the smaller of the three sizes that are available but now I have used them I wish I had pick the bigger tin!

Finally I picked up this lovely strawberry soap, with cute horse design in the centre. Unfortunately I couldn't find a soap to match the other fragrance but that could just be me not looking carefully enough! Besides this design was too good to pass up. I usually find that soaps do not transfer the fragrance on to the body, but after using this soap, I could smell strawberries long after the shower was over. There are so many soaps to choose from in all kinds of shape and scents. Most cost three pounds and would make lovely little stocking fillers at Christmas time.

After leaving I regretted not trying the cupcake soaps, they are beautifully crafted and would make ideal presents. You can even choose to have them gift wrapped. Altogether my purchases added up to around seventeen pounds for the three products which I think is a reasonable price for a high end soap company. Well worth the money.

I am very pleased with my purchases and was excited to see that the company have an online shop although there is more choice in store. For the full effect of what this company has to offer, the store is well worth a visit, with is beautiful layout and even more stunning products, you will not want to leave.
